Visalia, CA – The College of the Sequoias (COS) College and Career Expo once again provided an incredible platform for local students to showcase their talents, and this year, Ranger TV is thrilled to announce that our very own filmmaking team clinched First Place in the highly competitive film competition!
Congratulations to the talented trio of Autumn Batti, Hannah Johnson, and Seth Souza for their outstanding work on their film, "Running on Empty," featuring Seth Souza in a captivating performance. Their dedication, creativity, and technical prowess clearly shone through, earning them top honors among a strong field of contenders.
The competition challenged students to integrate specific technical and thematic elements into their short films. "Running on Empty" expertly addressed all aspects of the prompt, demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of filmmaking techniques.
One of the key requirements was the Cinematography Challenge: WHIP PAN. This dynamic shot, which involves a fast lateral pan of the camera to create a blur and connect two objects or convey speed, was seamlessly integrated into "Running on Empty." The judges were undoubtedly impressed by the team's skillful execution of this challenging technique, using it effectively to enhance the narrative and visual impact of their film.
Beyond the technical requirements, films were also asked to incorporate one or more of three themes: A.I., SURVIVAL, or FILM NOIR. Autumn, Hannah, and Seth chose the SURVIVAL theme, weaving it throughout their film to create a compelling and memorable experience for the audience. Their interpretation of survival added depth and resonance to "Running on Empty," showcasing their ability to craft a story that captivated viewers.
The success of "Running on Empty" is a testament to the hard work and talent of Autumn Batt, Hannah Johnson, and Seth Souza, as well as the guidance and support they received as part of the Ranger TV program. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and look forward to seeing what amazing projects they create next!
